Change the world

ONE CHILD AT A TIME

THE REALITY

A staggering 2.5 million children are now homeless each year in America. This historic high represents one in every 30 children in the United States.

FOOD

According to the USDA, more than 11 million children in the United States live in "food insecure" homes. That phrase may sound mild, but it means that those households don't have enough food for every family member to lead a healthy life. And that number dates from before the coronavirus pandemic.

ABUSE

Behind every homeless young person's face is another heartbreaking story – a teenage boy abused by his alcoholic parent, a pregnant girl rejected by her guardian, or a teenager trying to escape gang membership or a life of forced prostitution.

SHELTER

Children comprised 111,592—1 in 5—of the nearly 553,000 people experiencing homelessness on a single night in January 2018, when the annual assessment of homeless people was conducted for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s annual report to Congress.
